Thanks. The school I went to for a week or two was just east of the Santa Clara market on G.Darquea Street. This is very close to the University of Ecuador off Avenida America. I can’t remember the name of it but it was good. It was beside a bakery and whenever I get that smell now it reminds me of learning Spanish!

Paul, it is about a 2.5-3hr drive between Otavalo and Mindo in a taxi and honestly I wouldn’t be sure how much it would cost. I would guess that would be purely down to your haggling skills.

Thanks Laura. The Amazon is super alright and well worth going to. I don’t think I would ever get sick of it. Most trips from Quito are either 5 or 8 days but 2 days of that is getting there and back again. They are long days too. If you were going on your trip for 9days it would be worth your while I think but if you are only going for 7days then you would not get to see much of Quito and surrounds. Any jungle trips can be organised in the tourist area of Quito, the Mariscal.

Hi Ross,

I’m planning a 7-9 day trip to Quito this summer with trips out to the surrounding area, and this website was super helpful! Just curious though; I’d really love to see the Amazon (how many times do you get to go to a place like that, right??) but would I have time during such a short trip?
